We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant in the city of Santa Maria with a close knit, innovative company where every employee is like family. This is a full time, direct hire position. Hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday with a payrate ranging from $28 – $30 an hour (DOE). Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with monthly accounting close, including bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting entries.
- Responsible for departmental cost data, including collecting data and ensuring its accuracy, creating and maintaining cost allocations, analyzing variances, and reporting on results.
- Perform limited accounts payable functions, including invoice entry and payment, invoice analysis, resolution of discrepancies, statement reconciliation and vendor communications.
- Perform limited accounts receivable functions, including calculating, creating, and distributing invoices, processing cash receipts, and customer communications.
- Data collection and analysis as needed,
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years accounting experience.
- Degree in Accounting preferred. In lieu of a degree, in-depth knowledge of accounting and generally accepted accounting principles will be considered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Attention to detail and understand office policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is a must.
- Able to utilize and develop Excel spreadsheets.
- Solid computer knowledge: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Famous Software.
- Valid driver’s license and insurability.
- Human Resources and payroll knowledge a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
