We are currently looking for a Staff Accountant for one of our clients in Santa Maria, CA. This is a full-time position that may be either temp-to-hire, or direct hire for the right fit. Hours are 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday with a pay rate of $32 an hour (DOE). THIS JOB REQUIRES A BACKGROUND CHECK
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
- Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- Review inter-company transactions and generate invoices as necessary
- Spot errors and suggest ways to improve accuracy, efficiency and costs
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
- Assist with internal and external audits or reviews to ensure compliance
- Provide support for month-end and year-end close processes
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP
- Liaise with management to improve financial procedures and reporting
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as an A/P, A/R or Staff accountant
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Familiarity with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- QuickBooks experience
- Famous experience a plus but not requirement.
