We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Estimator to be involved with cost oversight on all projects. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, costs materials and labor estimates. Professionalism and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, are essential. This role is perfect for a seasoned professional in the construction industry;.
This is a direct hire position with a salary ranging from $79,000 to $85,000, depending on experience. The area of operations will be primarily LA, San Bernadino, and Orange County, though it also includes the Grapevine, NV, and AZ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all work products are accurate including bids, bid documents.
- Analyze bids, proposals, and owner products for accuracy.
- Provide all work products in a timely manner primarily bid products and estimates to owners.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements, Budget Variances, and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
- Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations.
- Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
- Visit site and record information about access, drainage and topography, and availability of services such as water and electricity.
- Develop estimates and scope of work for Capital Improvements, which include; Building Envelopes (roofing, masonry, siding, stucco, windows and doors); Building Systems (M/E/P, kitchen/ bathroom renovations); compliance (handicap accessibility and asbestos abatement); and major renovations to Multi Family Housing Projects.
- Review construction drawings and specifications to perform accurate take-offs of materials and supplies. Prepare RFI’s based on plan review in proper format and submit to the Architect. Prepare RFI’s from subcontractors in proper format and submit to architect.
Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree is required
- A minimum of five (5) years in Estimating or Project Management
- Computer Skills (Scheduling Programs, Microsoft)
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve
- Excellent organizational skills; detailed oriented
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Able to manage and coordinate multiple tasks and projects accurately
- Ability to quickly and appropriately prioritize conflicting demands
