The Estimator position is full time and either temp-to-hire or direct hire, with hours from 7am to 4pm, Mondays through Fridays.  The pay rate for this position is between $75,000 to $80,000 annually (DOE).  If you are qualified and interested, submit your resume ASAP!

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Be a leader for the construction team and serve the client’s needs by providing the best quality service in a productive, fun and safe team environment
  • Provide support and direction in the training and development and personnel by organizing and conducting safety meetings and collaborating with other managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
  • Minimizes exposure and risk through ongoing safety audits and quality assurance controls

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in inbound and outbound marketing, and solicitation for bids and actively seek out new clients/opportunities
  • Assist in preparing project estimates by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents
  • Analyze drawing, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates and take-offs by identifying labor, material, and time requirements
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and coordinate pre/post job meetings
  • Travel to jobsites to gather information on materials needed, labor required, and other factors
  • Prepare, issue, receive and review supplier and subcontractor proposals and pricing
  • Coordinate with the client on all changes in scope, questions, or clarifications regarding the work, during the bidding process, documenting the same in project folder
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and sub-contractors on estimates
  • Consult with industry experts and management to discuss estimates and resolve issues
  • Ensure pricing is updated in bidding software
  • Maintain and source best value and diverse subcontractors/suppliers/resources
  • Acts as a resource to project management during the award/start-up phase to clarify any issues regarding what was considered in the estimate including schedule, materials and methods of construction
  • Ensure project scopes, schedules and budgets are clearly defined
  • Reviews budget and project profitability status and goals with supervisor and project team as required. Seeks input on corrective measures to continuously improve the identification and accuracy of cost figures
  • Acts as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for changes in the work, during different construction phases
  • Visit jobs post award to analyze production and cost to make sure all margins are met
  • Assist in preparing special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends (job costing)
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in construction management, engineering, or related field or 5 years of direct experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the construction management, project management, and estimating field
  • Experience estimating and managing self-performed work activities and subcontracted work
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management
  • Ability to plan and see “the big picture”
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations, quality standards, and safety standards
  • Extensive knowledge with reading blueprints, plans, specs, contracts, quotes, purchase orders, etc…
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and standards with strong mathematical skills
  • Must possess a Valid Driver License

Construction Skills:

  • Understands means and methods of construction associated with underground utilities, grading and civil engineering construction
  • Has a working knowledge of the cost of goods and services; ability to solicit, evaluate, and manage the price, schedule and quality objectives of individual projects
  • Understands the sequencing of work and the strategy of creating effective project schedules
  • Understands project cost control and change order management
