The Dispatcher position is Full Time and Temp-to-Hire. The pay rate for this position is $24 an hour. The schedule for the training period will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. After training, the schedule will shift to a 4 on, 4 off schedule which could include weekends and evenings as scheduled. The schedule will vary so you must be open to other shifts. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Receive calls from customers
- Works alone and with other dispatchers to ensure loads are delivered
- Uses fuel management software to monitor fuel demand
- Takes all overnight calls and resolve any issues as able. If not, then direct the call to the appropriate on-call resources
- Proactively manage and complete/resolve events happening overnight such as accidents, employee injuries and spills
- Report all accidents and incidents to management
- Receives paperwork from driver and reviews to make sure paperwork is correct
- Reviews and scans paperwork to corporate office
- Reviews Driver’s Daily Logs and works with Security Advisor to ensure compliance
- Maintains driver inspection vehicle reports files
- Other duties/tasks as assigned as business need changes
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to plan in detail
- Strong communication skills
- Must have strong computer skills
- Ability to handle and organize large volumes of calls and problems at the same time
- Must work well under pressure
- Ability to thrive in a constantly changing chaotic environment and consistently meet tight timelines
- Ability to coordinate with other trucking dispatchers, customers and drivers
- Ability to work as a team member in communicating dispatch to drivers, customers and management
- Minimum 3 years of experience in dispatch work
- Geographic knowledge of California
- Must be proficient with computers and appropriate software
- Must be able to use office equipment such as scanners, copiers, and fax machines
- Working knowledge of DOT regulations
- Prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stopping and telephone/radio communication
