The Bookkeeper position is a temp-to-hire opportunity located in Santa Maria, CA. This is a part time position, with 24 to 30 hours being worked a week, Monday through Thursdays. The rate of pay will start at $27/hr and increase to $30 to $32/hr after a probationary period.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs agency reporting duties and bookkeeping.
  • Processes accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate financial planning reports and records, including but not limited to; income, expense, taxes and payroll.
  • Regularly reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts to identify discrepancies and rectify any issues promptly.
  • Generates weekly invoices for client billing.
  • Runs payroll bi-weekly.
  • Gathers bank statements, revenue reports, expenses, and payroll journals to submit to company CPA monthly.
  • Checks for any incoming mail and visits the post office as needed.
  • Track outstanding invoices and ensure timely payment of bills.
  • Ensures timely invoicing of creditors and payment of debts.
  • Answers incoming calls concerning billing and credits.
  • Assists with general business operations as needed to best position the company for success and excellent client service.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Prior bookkeeping and accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State financial laws and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of short-term and long-term budgeting and forecasting.
  • Able to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports for history, trend analysis and projections.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills with a friendly, positive attitude.
  • Ability to multi-task accurately and effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Takes confidentiality seriously.
