The Accountant position is located in Lompoc, CA, and is part-time and long term temporary, with a potential for temp-to-hire. Hours are from 8am to 2pm, Monday through Friday with a pay rate of $31.50/hr.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Processing payroll: entering data, running checks, etc.
- Processing accounts payable
- Produce and reconcile month-end reports
- Calculate sick leave and vacation accrual
- Prepare W-2 forms and maintain files
- Prepare 1099 year-end statements
- Maintain cash disbursement and A/P transaction ledgers
- Maintain employee personnel and insurance files
- Assist with annual budget preparation and annual audit
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of:
- Accounts Payable and basic accounting handling and procedures
- Federal and State labor codes as they apply to special districts
- Handling of confidential information
- Payroll handling, procedures, and reporting
- Proper office and telephone etiquette
- Records and filing techniques
- MS Excel and Office Suite preferred
- Ability to:
- Communicate clearly both orally and in writing
- Establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work, particularly customers
- Type a minimum of 35 wpm using word processing programs; use spreadsheets and database systems.
- Use 10-key calculator by touch and make mathematical computations for billing
- Read, understand, interpret, and apply complex materials to analysis and reports and use as a guide to function fully in the position.
- Operate a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices.
- Lift up to 25lbs infrequently.
- Any combination of experience and education totaling to:
- Two years of satisfactory employment as an accountant or equivalent position
- Satisfactory completion of two years course work in accounting, business administration, liberal arts, or related field at the community college level
- One year of intermediate-level accounting work and satisfactory completion of one year course work in accounting, business administration, liberal arts, or related field at the community college level
- Valid California Driver’s License
- CPR and First Aid Certifications are a plus
