The Tax Manager position is a temp-to-hire opportunity located in Santa Ynez, CA. The schedule is very flexible (see below), with a pay scale ranging between $75,000 and $150,000 annually. This position will begin January 2025 for tax season.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
  • Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and enhance tax efficiency for the organization.
  • Research and Analysis: Stay current on changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on client organizations. Conduct thorough research on complex tax issues and prepare technical memoranda as necessary.
  • Audit Coordination: Manage and coordinate tax audits when they arise, working closely with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure a smooth process.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior tax staff and operation team, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all tax-related matters and prepare reports for senior management.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or other relevant certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax management or public accounting, with a range of experience in Individual, Corporate, Partnership, Fiduciary, and Exempt entities.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Lacerte tax software, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Slack, Canopy Tax, CFS, Zoom, Webex, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
