The Microbiologist position is a full-time temp to hire position in Salinas, CA. Shifts are 8 hours, and any candidate must have open availability to include nights and weekends. Pay rate for this position is $30to $32/hr (DOE).

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work independently to utilize cultural and rapid methodologies (real-time PCR, etc.) to identify pathogens, indicators, and spoilage organisms in food, water and environmental samples
- Proactively managing the laboratory personnel to ensure adherence to company protocols and values
- Interacting with clients by communicating test results, answering questions, and sending sampling supplies based on their needs
- Developing, maintaining, and measuring processes to increase the accuracy of turn-around-time for results
- Ensuring implementation of QA/QC program with regards to all operations and documentation requirements
- Provide training to new personnel, as well as coaching and mentoring to facilitate the staff’s professional and personal growth
Skills & Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, plus hands-on laboratory experience.
- Work experience should include knowledge of sterile technique and pure culture maintenance.
- The candidate must have proven problem solving an trouble shooting skills along with strong verbal and written communication in English (Spanish capabilities a plus).
- Strong time management, organizational and people skills are highly desired.
- Must have flexible work schedule, including weekends.
- Travel is required.
- Must be 21+ to drive company car and have a clean DMV record.
